Poetry: “I hear now! oh how I hear now!”

As the wind blew
the leaves whispered to me
dryly, crisply on the pavement
As they passed me by…
I couldn’t comprehend
What they had to say.

As the rain fell
the branches gestured to me
feverishly, madly, fervently
As I passed them by…
I feared greatly to hear
What they had to say.

As the sun set
night birds sang to me
portentously, woefully, bitterly
like omens flying by…
I was left numb from
What they had to say.

As oblivion called
Silence conversed with me
Spitefully, hatefully, deafeningly
All, ye all has now passed me by…
There is now no escaping
What they all had to say.
